Development of Bilateral Cooperation Between Russia and Kazakhstan Discussed in Moscow

23.08.2023

Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee, held a working meeting in Moscow with Dauren Abaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation. The parties discussed the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as the participation of representatives of Kazakhstan in major business events in Russia.

«Russian-Kazakh relations have the character of a strategic partnership and are progressively developing in the spirit of good-neighbourliness. Economic ties are being strengthened and mutually beneficial innovative projects are being implemented. We see prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the context of the implementation of the New Silk Road transport corridor project. We also consider it necessary to further develop transport and logistics cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Community. The Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan plays an important role in aligning the legislation of the two countries in this area,» said Anton Kobyakov.

The parties considered the participation of the Kazakh side in such events as the Eastern Economic Forum, the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, and the Russian Energy Week. Aspects of organizing interaction between the two countries at the Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in Kostanay in 2023 were addressed.

Dauren Abaev, in turn, confirmed the participation of the delegation of Kazakhstan in the 8th Eastern Economic Forum. «We have a lot of issues to discuss — gas, logistics, transport, and energy,» said Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the need to expand cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan on the nature conservation agenda was noted. In the context of the forthcoming first Falcon Day International Forum in Vladivostok, the meeting participants discussed the possibility of joining efforts within the framework of activities for the conservation and reproduction of rare bird species.

The Eastern Economic Forum will be held on 10–13 September 2023 in Vladivostok on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. EEF is organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
